Community Outreach

Our staff and volunteers collaborate closely with local agencies, helping to address the needs of all vulnerable children, adolescents and families living in the community.

We regularly provide personal development opportunities for parents; opportunities such as educational trainings, family therapy and occasional classes on various topics. We have an onsite social worker and many of the international volunteers that visit us are trained professionals, visiting from the United States and Europe.

Many of our staff members also participate and encourage youth sports activities, including youth boxing, girls’ softball and the annual Special Olympics. Read more about this here, in our November 2010 and December 2010 blog posts.

Some of the local organizations that we work closely with to address the needs of the community include:

  • La Casa Materna – working to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates in rural areas
  • Hospital Camoapa & San Just Solidari
  • Los Pipitos in Camoapa – dedicated to providing services to children with disabilities
  • La Casa de la Mujer – working with woman, serving women
  • The Camoapan Police Department
  • Programa Amor (MiFamilia) in Camoapa – Government organization dedicated to working with children, adolescents and families
  • MINED in Camoapa – Nicaragua’s Education Department
