~ Our intensive semi-residential day program
Translated as “Home of the Dawning Light,” HDLA is our educational center in Camoapa, Nicaragua. Twenty four children (ages 6 to 15) participate in this intensive, semi-residential day program. The children come to the center from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and receive three healthy meals. First, second and third graders attend classes at the center. Children in grades four and up attend the public schools. In this program we provide:
- One-on-one tutoring & mentoring
- School supplies and school uniforms
- Regular health and dental care & health education
- Psychological services – one-on-one therapy and group discussions
- Apprenticeship opportunities for the adolescents
- Nicaraguan Folkloric Dance lessons
- Gym classes, recreational games & sports activities
- Catechism for those who choose it
Arts & crafts and other cultural activities
