Mission Statement: The Sunrise Foundation promotes a wrap-around, holistic approach to community development through education. While reaching out to the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children and their families, we encourage and support collaboration between school, government and community organizations in order to address their educational, emotional, psychological, social and health needs.
Vision Statement: In Camoapa, as in many communities across Nicaragua, extreme poverty, poor health and a lack of resources are prevalent. Because of this, countless children grow up without attending school and without the social and emotional support that they need to thrive. At The Sunrise Foundation, we believe in education’s ability to transform lives, if all aspects of a child’s life are addressed. This is why we reach out to as many community members and organizations as possible, including family social services, the public school system, local health care and both governmental and nongovernmental organizations. We encourage collaboration so as to build an ongoing community effort to educate and foster healthy growth for those who are most at-risk. We believe this is the road to a healthier and more sustainable community.
